Download and extract all the files from the compressed zip archive “Aspire_UI_Set_x_verson.zip”. We recommend that you extract to a folder named “aspireui”:
After extracting the zip archive, you will find two folders “deploy” and “install”.
In the “install” folder, you will find an Adobe Extension installation file “install.mxp” in a folder named “mxp”. Double-click the .mxp file to install the extension. This extension installs the required Aspire UI SWC file to the correct location so that you may find it in the Components Panel in Adobe Flash.
In the “deploy” folder, you will find bitmap PNG skin assets stored in their respective theme folders and some example files to get you started.
* The files inside the “deploy” folder can be modified to suit your needs. It is recommended that you keep a back-up of the original files in case your modifications mess things up (especially if you are going to modify the skins).
To better understand how Aspire UI works, you should compile the provided “example” class immediately before modifying any file.
Open the “example.fla” file in Adobe Flash. You will see from the Properties Panel that this “example.fla” has been linked to “example.as”.
In Adobe Flash, bring up the Components Panel (CTRL-F7).
Add the required Aspire UI component to the “example.fla” document (either drag-n-drop or double-click the component in the Components Panel).
Remove (delete) the component from the stage (but keep it in the Library so that the Aspire UI classes will be available for compiling).
The example uses external bitmap PNG files stored in “deploy/assets/skins/default” for skinning. By simply changing one line of code in “example.as” you will be able to change the theme to, for example, the one in “deploy/assets/skins/classic” (see comments in “example.as”).
To better understand how the various UI elements in the example SWF are built using Aspire UI classes, open and study the code in the provided “example.as”.
* NOTE: The “example” files are, as the name implies, for example only - you do not need them for deployment of your Aspire UI Flash application. Only the skin assets in “deploy/assets/skins/default” are required.
